Ingredients to look out for in a slimming patch

There are many slimming patches on the market today, but only a few (like the much talked about Slim Weight Patch) have all the nessesary ingredients to speed up your fat burning, reduce your appetite AND give you extra serotonin levels to make the weight loss easier.

Ingredients to look out for include:

Fucus Vesiculosus

A natural sea plant extract that has been used for hundreds of years by traditional healers worldwide to aide varying ailments. More recently it has been used by both herbalists and conventional practitioners to help in weight control.

Bladder wrack

Commonly found in kelp tablets or powders used as nutritional supplements. It's very common as a food in Japan and regularly used as an additive and flavouring in large range of food products in Europe. Although it's often called "kelp" that term technically refers to a different seaweed.

The primary use of bladder wrack and indeed most other types of seaweed, in traditional herbal medicine is as a source of iodine. As iodine is an essential nutrient for the thyroid gland, Bladder wrack has proved to be a useful treatment for an underactive thyroid gland, which is known as hypothyroidism or goitre.

Chemicals found in Bladder Wrack include algin, mannitol, mucilage, beta-carotene, iodine, bromine, potassium, zeaxanthin, volatile oils, and many other minerals.

Also known as an aid in the relief of rheumatism and rheumatoid arthritis and used both internally and externally applied to inflamed joints. Alginic acid which is another chemical constituent of bladder wrack, actually swells upon contact with water and forms a "seal" at the top of the stomach when taken orally. Because of this, it's used in various over-the-counter preparations for heartburn.

Bladder wrack has also been shown to assist with abnormal menstrual cycling patterns and menstrual-related disease.

5 HTP

Low serotonin and tryptophan levels in obese patients have been associated with carbohydrate cravings and resultant binge eating. 5-HTP can help prevent this dieting-associated decline in serotonin, thus enhancing weight loss. Three clinical trials in obese patients have demonstrated decreased food intake and subsequent weight loss with 5-HTP supplementation.

5 HTP may actually help weight loss and improve sleep patterns. Research has suggested that high serotonin levels could reduce appetite and so obviously assist with weight loss goals.

Serotonin, which is converted into melatonin, powerfully regulates sleep cycles. And if 5 HTP can increase serotonin levels, it may be able to improve sleep and aid in weight loss.

Guarana

An extract of the Guarana plant, which was original used by Amazonian Indians as a stimulant and a treatment for stress. It's also reputed to be a stimulant and to be able to increase mental alertness, fight fatigue, and physical endurance.

In Brazil Guarana drinks and sodas are almost as popular as cola based drinks, mainly because guarana is considered to be a health tonic there. And in the USA guarana has become a popular ingredient in energy drinks and teas. Guarana contains up to 3 times the amount of caffeine as coffee.

Evidence indicates that guarana may also suppress your appetite and boost fat burning and because of this, is an important ingredient in many types of weight loss pills.

Garcinia cambogia

A small fruit that resembles a miniature pumpkin. It is indigenous to India and parts of Asia, and an extract from its fruit and rind is popular in many natural weight loss products. The extract is hydroxycitric acid (HCA), to suppress appetite and enhance fat-burning.

Zinc Pyruvate

Technically, pyruvate is really a combination of highly unstable pyruvic acid and other substances like calcium, sodium or potassium, added to stabilize pyruvic acid. This new compound is used to enhance fat burning, boost endurance, increase lean muscle mass, decrease blood glucose and lower blood cholesterol.

DHEA

Dr. Terrence T. Yen was studying the effect of DHEA on genetically obese mice. Although the DHEA-treated mice ate normally, they remained thin and they lived longer than control mice. This leanness effect was also conspicuously noted by Dr. Schwartz. In another experiment, Dr. M. P. Cleary found that even middle-aged obese rats lost weight when fed DHEA-supplemented food. Diabetes, a typical complication of obesity, was also dramatically decreased.

Yerba Mate

A member of the holly family and grows wild across Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Brazil, but is most abundant in Paraguay, where it is cultivated. In 1964 one group of investigators from the Pasteur Institute and the Paris Scientific Society concluded that Yerba Mate contains nearly all of the vitamins necessary to sustain life.

Yerba Mate is often used as a staple food, sometimes substituting for such important foods as bread and vegetables. It easily eliminates the sensation of hunger and can impart as much invigoration as a full meal, according to the well-known Chilean herbalists J. Zin and R. Weiss.

Flaxseed Oil

Despite all the concern about fat in our diet, the body does require fat to function. The problem is that most people are getting the wrong kinds of fats in their diet and are lacking the so-called good fats in their diets. The human body cannot function properly without two polyunsaturated fats - linoleic and alpha-linolenic acid. These fatty acids, which are found in Flaxseed Oil are essential to normal cell structure and body function.

Lecithin

Contains Choline & Inositol which are essential for the breakdown of fats and cholesterol. It helps prevent arterial congestion and distribute bodyweight, increase immunity to virus infections, cleans the liver and purifies the kidneys.

L-Carnitine

Facilitates the burning of fat for energy by making it possible for the long chain fatty acids it transports to enter the cell . If the fatty acids cannot reach the mitochondria where they are transformed to cellular energy, it stands to reason they are going to be deposited in places where the body will suffer from their presence, as happens in fatty liver disease, fatty build-up in the heart, and obesity, where fatty build-up occurs in the muscles.

Zinc Citrate

Zinc is required for many functions in the body, including growth, taste and smell, nucleic acid synthesis, keratin metabolism, sexual development and function in both genders, bone and joint metabolism, wound healing, brain development, nerve function and behavior, and lipid and carbohydrate metabolism.
